Introduction
I didnt know who he was. I knew he went to my school seeing as how he spoke to the only two high school boys I knew at the time: Alan and Mario. He seemed quite the loner type being by himself. He drew very well from what I could see. He was tall, pale for a Hispanic, but dark locks covered his head. I was curious to hear his voice so I came over to his side and asked what he was doing.
A picture for history. I have to draw a scene when they write the Declaration of Independence, he muttered.
Oh. I replied.
Ants had already taken over our sports drinks left over from the Cross Country race. We picked up what we could salvage and hiked our way back to the buses following the orders of our coaches.
Javier, did we forget anything?
No sir. He said
Thats his name! Javier.
He turned around and began talking to his best friends Jason and Oscar, laughing and being stupid as all boys do.
As I walked with Daisy and Janet, my friends and fellow runners, I wondered if something as simple as a friendship could start between us.
I had a vague idea who she was and noticed that she only knew Alan and Mario. Then again she is a freshman. I guess she met them through band seeing as they are in it too. When she came up to me, she seemed shy but she complimented me on my work. She was shorter than me, but not too short. She had dark brown hair and glasses. She spoke mostly to her friends and was always smiling and laughing. Its weird that she would just come up to me out of the blue, but its alright. I didnt know her name, but its cool. I can get it some other time.
Hey Alan! I shouted. Whats that girls name that's a freshman and wears glasses?
Oh, thats Anita. Shes cool. Shes in band like me, but shes really smart from what Ive heard from my sister.
Oh, cool.
Anita, huh? Well there may be more to her than I thought.
